LV’s The Mountain Man is a gorgeous 10-year-old buckskin gelding. He is a registered Kentucky Mountain Horse that stands 16 hands tall and has a super smooth, all-natural gait. Mountain Man has a big build, big bone and foot, wears a number two shoe, and has excellent conformation. Not only does this beautiful golden buckskin shining with dapples have all the looks and the perfect gait, but he also has a head full of sense. He has a sound mind, and an easygoing nature, he is gentle, has a kind eye, and a willing-to-please attitude. Mountain Man was born and raised just a couple hours away from us and has spent his life being ridden by an older gentleman. He has been ridden into town, spending hours there by this gentleman more times than he can count. Unfortunately, due to declining health issues, he has had to find a new home for Mountain Man. It is a rare and once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to find a horse like this even offered for sale. We cannot say enough good things about Mountain Man. He is an excellent trail horse. He is safe, sound, and sure-footed even on the most rough and rocky terrain. He easily navigates through deep water, mud, or thick brush. His willing attitude allows you to explore new places on the trail, as he carefully tracks his way through any type of terrain. He will ride in the front or the back, out alone or with a big group of people. Our little girl who is only 5 has even enjoyed riding him on the trail, turning him in and out, brushing him, and giving him baths. Mountain Man is the type of horse that is big and stout enough to pack any bigger person all day long but also gentle and laid back enough for the more timid riders or even children who know the basics of riding to enjoy as well. His gait is so smooth and natural that even if you’re new to gaited horses or less confident, you will be able to get along and enjoy your ride on Mountain Man. We’ve taken Mountain Man to horse shows, where he was a crowd favorite and we came away with many ribbons. He paid no attention to the crowd, loud music and commotion. Mountain Man also has experience in the indoor and outdoor arenas and will back up on command, and lope circles both ways, taking the correct leads.
Mountain Man is also an excellent driving horse. He pulls and drives in a one-horse buggy as well as he rides. We’ve enjoyed driving him to town, through the pastures to check our cows, and miles up the road to visit family. He stands to be hitched, stands patiently when stopped, and is stout enough for the job as well. Mountain Man has excellent ground manners and is respectful. He will stand tied patiently in the cross ties, for the farrier, and on the trailer. He hauls easily, he is easy to catch, to shoe, and loves a bath. He is clean and quiet in the stall. He is used to the tarp and whip and is completely traffic safe. He gets along well with other horses and people. He is an easy keeper and a joy to have in the barn.
He has been a family horse for us and we have so enjoyed our time with him. He is definitely a favorite in our barn- one of those horses that you look forward to seeing as soon as you get to the barn. He is a once-in-a-lifetime guy. It’s a special opportunity to own this amazing animal. Check out our full YouTube video to see all of this and more for yourself. Feel free to call with any questions.
